Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in rural and peri-urban schools in Mongolia - WASH in Schools Funding Proposal

Abstract

This document is a United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) proposal for funding for a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) project in rural and peri-urban schools in Mongolia from January 2012 to December 2016.

The project goals are to improve MDG 4 achievement in Mongolia, and improve the promotion and protection of children's rights to education and health. UNICEF identifies three outcomes:

Model WASH facilities in selected schools, kindergartens and local communities is piloted and tested.
Local community and school children's behaviour on WASH is changed due to promotion of Communication for Development activities and advocacy.


The capacity of target schools, kindergartens and communities is increased for maintenance of WASH facilities.
The document gives some details of proposed design, implementation and resourcing.
