Abstract

This technical report is prepared based on consultations with the relevant Armenian authorities. It analyzes the benefits of accession to the Protocol for Armenia and the required legislative and institutional reforms and changes, taking into consideration the baseline analysis and draft national targets and target dates already developed under the project by the working group of national experts and the international consultant and adopted by the project Steering Committee in May 2014. Case studies on recent competed ratifications of two UNECE treaties are also presented. Finally, the report provides an overview of the process of ratification of the UNECE-WHO/Europe Protocol on Water and Health since its signature in 1999 and outlines the steps required to complete the process of ratification.
